It is a very large structure that is made from relatively thin metal sheets. Therefore, thestructuralintegrityofanHRSGisveryimportanttoensuresafeoperationduringplantlifetime.Inparticular,thermaldeformationandthermalfatiguehavebeenrevealedasthemaincausesofthemechanicaldegradationof an HRSG. In order to prevent unexpected damage, safety evaluation based on a large-scale analysis isnecessary.Therefore,thisstudyaimstoimprovethesafetyofHRSGbyusingFiniteElementAnalysis(FEA)resultsderivedfromlarge-scaleanalysis.Furthermore,themodifieddesignisverifiedbycomparingitwiththeoriginalone.Thisresultwillbeusedasbasicdataforimprovingthesafetyofavertical-typeHRSG.
