Popis: | The structure, thermodynamical, and optical properties of 8–23-nm-thick polypyromellitimide nanolayers obtained on a semiconductor surface by spin-coating of prepolymer solutions and their consequent imidization at the temperatures up to 453 K have been investigated. It is found that decreasing the nanolayers’ thickness leads to a sharp decrease in their temperature and imidization time. It is shown that polyimide layers thinner than 10 nm on a semiconductor surface are not continuous; instead, they are self-organizing discontinuous coverings with typical sizes of polymer islets in a substrate plane of around hundreds of nanometers in size. The possibility of using the above-mentioned continuous and discontinuous nanolayers of a semiconductor surface as aligning surfaces for liquid crystals to be used in the production of flexible displays has been proven. |
