Recently, for the purpose of voltage stability and increasing the power systems stability in high voltage networks, thyristors-based static Var compensators (SVC) are widely used. The delay time occurred after the switching of the thyristors when used in electric networks characterized by small short circuit currents may lead to violation of the system stability when the parameters of the SVC controller are not correctly tuned. Therefore, the application of such devices should be combined with the developments of methods for determining the tuning parameters of the SVC controllers to ensure their stability. In this paper, on the example of the SVC model with a proportional type controller, it is shown that using the D-decomposition method is one of the possible methods for solving this problem. The application of the proposed D-decomposition method allows constructing the stability zones in the coordinates of the tuning parameters of the SVC controller. To check the stability of the proposed zone, it is proposed to use Nyquist’s criterion. |
