Once a child is suspected to have or diagnosed with food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), parents/families may seek the opinion of an allergist, gastroenterologist, and/or dietitian. In this chapter, we review the rationale and development of a joint multispecialty clinic in which patients are seen by specialists in allergy, gastroenterology, and nutrition. We work together to facilitate diagnosis and appropriate treatment of FPIES or referral for other allergic/gastrointestinal diagnoses while supporting appropriate growth and development through diet advancement and supplementation. |
