Graft-versus-Host Disease after HSCT could lead to oral and upper airways lesions, such as lichenoid-like lesions, leukoplakia, erythroplakia, and ulcerations, induced by an immune reaction from the donor cells against the recipient. Moreover, a well-recognized risk of developing squamous cell oral cancer in patients with GVHD after HSCT is described in literature. The systematic review aims to define the main patterns of oral and upper airway lesions, their localization and extent, signs of malignancy transformation, and vascular abnormalities evaluated endoscopically, through the use of Narrow Band Imaging and to validate a new classification including the so-called Oral Potentially Malignant disease (such ad leukoplakia and erytroplakia). |
