Popis: | Recording characteristics of perpendicular recording media with three different stabilizing schemes of soft under (SUL) were investigated; conventional, synthetic antiparallelly (SAP) coupled, and antiferromagnetically (AFM) coupled SULs. The strong pinning due to the AFM, which led to a quasi-single domain, presented some negative effects on recording performances, displaying a poorer writing characteristic and a stronger sensitivity to adjacent dc-saturated tracks. Even multi-domains due to the relatively weak pinning of the SAP appear to be sufficient for suppressing additional media noise from the SUL as the domain structure is properly controlled. |
