Popis: We studied the effects of deep hypothermia and rewarming on hepatic regional blood flow, acid–base balance and level of plasma transaminases in rat. A high mortality was found when rewarming at 0.35°C/min. At a rate of 0.25°C/min, all animals survived and the decrease in portal vein flow induced by hypothermia was restored. The reduced blood flow did not affect aerobic metabolism based on lactate levels. In this animal model, pH was maintained by controlling ventilation following the alpha-stat strategy. It appears that deep hypothermia protocol could be safely used to rewarm hypothermic subjects.
