Panels A and B display the insula magna, and it can be seen that m4 staining occupies the cell-sparse core of the island. Panels A0 and B0 show an ordinary island in which the granule cells form a sheet closely applied to the pial surface of the brain (panel B0). In this case, a region of intense m4-like staining is present immediately internal to the granule cell component of the island. Scale bar = 200 mm. |
