| Popis: | The development of clinical endocrinology and the ultimate utilization of the vast amount of information gathered by the experimentalists and biochemists depends on the accumulation of supplementing and complimenting observations on the human species. Man’s desire to postpone senility and prolong the reproductive period has been one of the chief incentives to the investigation of the glands of internal secretion. Castration of animals and human beings has been practiced and observed since earliest times, but the record of its results in man contains so many conflicting statements and is so clouded with superstition and perpetuated misinformation that standards for critical judgment are lacking. Consequently, the valuation of the results of replacement therapy and attempted stimulation has been hindered.
