Popis:	Swelling of cells after prolonged shock whether septic or hemorrhagic is well accepted. Evidence for cell edema reflected by swelling of mitochondria and sarcoplasmic reticulum is not evident before the late stages of shock (6). However, reductions in cell membrane potential implying interference with the membrane pump and consequent cell edema occur very early after an acute hemorrhage (4).
