Popis: This chapter covers the basic principles and legal basis of organic farming, as well as the extent and importance of organic fruit production in Europe, and the supply situation and market outlook for such produce. Conditions favouring the conversion to organic apple production, as well as site requirements, planting systems, choice of rootstocks and cultivars, areas and features for ecological compensation, and nutrient, soil, pest and weed managements for such type of farming are discussed. Notes are presented on organically approved disease and pest control products.
