Popis: Amberlite IRA402 OH, a gel-type, polystyrene/divinylbenzene, strongly basic anion exchanger containing quaternary ammonium groups, was used as the macromolecular support for copper(II) compounds. The inorganic deposit was introduced into the anion exchanger structure in two steps conducted batchwise at ambient temperature. First, the functional groups in the OH− or Cl− form were transformed into the CuC l 4 2 − form, using 0.5 mol dm−3 CuCl2 in 5 mol dm−3 HCl or 0.5 mol dm−3 CuCl2 in 5 mol dm−3 NaCl. Then, the intermediate product was alkalized with 1 mol dm−3 NaOH to precipitate CuO or Cu2(OH)3Cl into the beads. Using the anion exchanger in the OH− form and NaCl solution as the reaction medium, a product with the highest CuO content, over 15%, was obtained. The accumulation of such a large amount of inorganic deposit in the gel-type anion exchanger produced very interesting phenomena on its surface. Hybrid ion exchangers with an atypical distribution of the deposit, concentrated close to the surface of the beads, were obtained. The complex investigations using, in the first step, an anion exchanger in different ionic form (OH− or Cl−) and also different reaction media (NaCl or HCl solutions), and then, in the second step, different amounts of NaOH solution (neutralization to pH = 7-8 or alkalization to pH > 12) allowed to get to know the chemistry of the copper(II) compounds deposition within the matrix of the gel-type strongly basic anion exchanger. The sorption, photocatalytic and biocidic properties of these novel materials will be presented and discussed in the separate works.
