Popis: Every tracheotomizing physician must have comprehensive knowledge of the anatomy and topography of the neck region. This chapter presents all anatomical aspects that are relevant for tracheotomies in various methods, such as open surgical tracheotomies, percutaneous dilatational tracheotomies and coniotomy, which is considered an emergency procedure. The external anatomical orientation, anatomical shifting of the neck fasciae, neck musculature, the thyroid gland in particular as well as the trachea and the tracheotomy-relevant vascular anatomy, also with the not infrequent vascular variations, are treated comprehensively. In addition, presentations of age-related anatomical differences support better understanding. The chapter, which is tailored to clinical practice and contains a wide range of descriptive images, makes a significant contribution to avoiding complications and beginner’s errors.
