Popis: A 1.5MeV linear induction accelerator has been built up in Institute of Fluid Physics of China Academy of Engineering Physics. This machine consists of six accelerator modules. Four of which are connected in series by a cathode stem to drive a cold field emitter diode. Other two are used as a post-accelerator. The diode has a planar configuration and its emitter is made of velvet. Each module is energized by a 10.8 ohm water insulated Blumlein pulse forming line and can produce a 250 kV high voltage pulse. All the Blumlein lines are charged by one Marx generator. The beam is guided by magnetic field. The test of this accelerator has been completed. The satisfactory experimental results have been obtain as follows: 1.5 MeV beam energy, 3 kA beam current, 2 cm beam radius and 70 mrad-cm beam emittance. Now the test is going on to improve the beam brightness. In order to satisfy the requirements for studying free electron laser,we plan to construct a 4MeV linear induction accelerator in China Academy of Engineering Physics. The 1.5 MeV linear induction accelerator will be an injector of a 4 MeV machine. The characteristics of a linear induction accelerator mainly depend on the characteristics of its injector. An injector contains nearly whole technical matter of a linear induction accelerator. So successful completion of a 1.5 MeV linear induction accelerator will have an important function of constructing the 4 MeV machine.
