Data quality is an important issue in seismic data processing. In this context ocean bottom nodes are particularly interesting. 4-component nodes are plugged in the sea bottom by a remote operating vehicle and record the seismic vector wave field. As depth imaging and in particular the background velocity estimation is a difficult task, the processing of such data is usually performed by conventional time sequences based on crude approximations. Therefore the full potential of these data is not used. We propose and apply here a prestack depth imaging sequence which aims at exploiting fully the high quality of these data. This sequence combines multiple attenuation, background macro-model estimation and prestack depth migration in the angle domain. In addition, it requires very little human interaction. The feasibility of the work flow is shown on a 2D line from the Volve Node data set (North Sea). |
