An experimental investigation has been made in order to study the heat transfer performance of a two-phase closed thermosyphon tube. A smooth copper tube of total length 1500 mm and 21 nun inside diameter is used as a container of the thermosyp hon. Each of the evaporator section and the condenser section has a length of 600 mm, while the remaining part of the thermosyphon tube is the adiabatic section. The working fluid used is R22. The effects of heat transfer rate (100 W ≤Q≤ 300 W), filling percentage (30≤%v+≤100%) and the inclination angle of the thermosyphon (22.5°≤θ≤90) are studied. It is found that, the optimum filling percentage and the best inclination angle values are 50% and 30°, respectively. The overall heat transfer coefficient ratio (U/U90) has been correlated in a dimensionless form as a function of Kutateladze number, filling ratio, inclination angle, and reduced pressure ratio. |
