Popis: The transient microsecond absorption and photoconductivity in thin iodine(I)-doped (beta) - carotene (Car) films have been investigated. The laser nanosecond excitation ((lambda) equals 1064 and 512 nm) of the charge-transfer complex [Car + (DOT) I x - ] (where x equals 3,5,7) leads to the appearance of a new transient absorption spectrum at 1250 nm. This absorption decays by the hyperbolic low as a result of recombination of charged or neutral particles. The conductivity in doped films is possibly due to the flow of iodine anions in the external electric field. These charged particles arise in an unexcited state of the complex under the thermal influence of a laser pulse.
