The ${\mathrm{C}}^{12}(p, p){\mathrm{C}}^{12}$ differential cross section has been observed at four scattering angles by using differentially pumped gas targets of propane and ethylene. The scattering angles employed were 106.4, 127.8, 148.9, and 169.2 degrees in the center-of-mass system, and the energy range covered extended from 0.4 to 4.3 Mev. These measurements show the angular behavior of the previously discovered scattering anomalies at 0.46 and 1.7 Mev and give values of the absolute cross section accurate to within five percent. A careful search in three- and six-kev steps failed to reveal any indication of any hitherto unknown scattering resonances within the energy range surveyed. |
