Popis: India is a major recipient of international migrants, especially from neighbouring countries like Nepal. According to Census 1991, 6.6% of Nepali migrants were to India, which increased to 9.4% in the 2001 census. The Integrated Bio Behavioral Survey 2006 reveals that the majority of the people from western districts of Nepal migrate to Delhi and Maharashtra, 42.2% and 39.4%, respectively, and from mid-far-western districts, 43.3% go to Maharashtra. According to the Department of Labor and Employment promotion, there are 243,180 documented and undocumented migrants in India. This chapter mainly focuses on socioeconomic conditions of Nepali migrants and their health-related issues. A quantitative approach was adopted using a sample of 500 Nepali migrants from different parts of Mumbai. The migrants were selected by using the snowball sampling method. It was found that 60% of Nepali migrants lived at their workplace, and among them, 80% were security workers. More than one-third lived in kaccha houses, less than half in semi-pucca houses and one-fifth in pucca houses.
