There is no doubt that with the rise of obesity rates globally, achieving fertility as well as pregnancy raises new challenges. Moreover, with the advancement of bariatric measures, new issues new challenges emerge when tackling those issues. Needless to say, optimization of pregnancy is no single measure plan. It requires appropriate education preconception, antepartum and during the puerperium. Appropriate weight control prior to conception is key. Adequate supplementation as well as weight management during the pregnancy plays a significant role in predicting adverse outcomes of pregnancy. Furthermore, a tailored pregnancy plan of follow-up for the obese patients requires careful stepwise measures to ensure safety of the mother and well as the unborn fetus. |
