Popis: Software Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm enables the control of the entire network and the packet flow in a dynamic manner based on the network status and network application requirements through software. This includes routing of packets with flow table settings in Data plane, traffic engineering with support for Quality of Service, multipath routing etc. Many of these functions have Graph theory based algorithms and implementations in SDN Controller. SDN Controller faces many challenges in achieving network security, reliability, and scalability. Bio-inspired algorithms provide metaheuristic approaches which lead to robust, low complexity solutions to many of the problems. In this paper, we review the various bio-inspired algorithms and their suitability for implementation in SDN Controllers for bringing in better performance and discuss the future work required in this direction.
