Popis: | Ulcerative disease syndrome in fish was first noticed in 1972 in Australia. It has affected several countries in south‐east Asia and recently north‐east Asia and eastern part of India (including west Bengal). No definite cause has yet been known as the etiologic agent of this syndrome. However, this paper presents evidence that in India it appears to be caused by Aeromonas hydrophila. The isolated strains of A.hydrophila from affected fishes are enterotoxigenic, cytotoxic and haemolytic which might contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease process. |
