Popis: | 1. The experimental investigation described has established the feasibility of producing setting materials from metal powders and aqueous solutions of acids. It is shown than binding qualities are exhibited by Mg, Al, Ti, Zn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu mixed with aqueous solutions of phosphoric acid and also by Mg, Al, Ti, Zr, Cr, Fe, Co, and Ni in combination with aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid. 2. It is demonstrated that the hardening of the binding materials developed is a consequence of chemical reactions between the metals and acids, the principal products of which are acid orthophosphates (for phosphate compositions) and crystalline intermediate hydrosulfates (for sulfate compositions) of the relevant metals. 3. In the synthesis of new inorganic materials, good results can be obtained by using the method of pressing of metal powders wetted with aqueous solutions of acids. |
