Popis: This experimental work presents the flexural response, before and after strengthening, of Geopolymer concrete beams reinforced with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars as main and only reinforcement. A total of nine beams were subjected to quasi-static four-point flexural tests. Four beams were used as a reference, while the other beams were substantially damaged by loading up to 50% of their load capacities and then repaired and strengthened using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheets. Subsequently load bearing capacities, strain development, and load-deflection relationship are reported while failure modes and cracking patterns are also observed. The ACI 440-R1-06 equations were found to give conservative estimates for the flexural capacity of un-strengthened geopolymer beams, and thus can be adopted for such concretes. The CFRP strengthening restored the capacity of the damaged beams without increasing the load carrying capacity of such systems due to elastic modulus incompatibility between the GFRP and CFRP material.
