Statistical aspects of the strength of high-alumina ceramics

Popis:	The results of an analysis of the strength of a large number of specimens of a high-alumina ceramic indicate that the strength distribution follows a normal law but the distribution parameters depend on the stressed volume so that they vary with the volume of the specimen. The Weibull distribution does not suffer from this disadvantage but its agreement with experimental results for specimens of a given volume is less satisfactory.
