Popis: |
Nerve conduction velocity across the thoracic outlet can be performed with little discomfort to the patient and the informations so easily obtained provide objective means of diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome, help in the selection of therapeutic modalities, and the assessment of therapeutic results. The discrepancy in velocity values obtained by different electromyographers is technical in nature. It is realted to the methods of measuring the length of the proximal ulnar nerve segment and conduction latencies, the strength of the stimulus used and few other variables such as temperature and existing nerve disorders. The electromyographer who cannot reproduce other workers’ normal velocity ranges, should establish his own values with particular observance to the basic technique of conduction study. |
