Popis: In both, traditional and digital business models, firms collect and use data to adapt and customize their products and services. Probably, there is no company that does not collect any data about its customers. Data is gathered in retail stores with loyalty cards, by paying with banking cards or FinTechs like Klarna, it is accumulated if people search in the internet, and data is even collected by using assistants such as Siri, Alexa & Co. (Chen 2019) and by travelling with (automated) cars. As a result, several individuals started to request what data is gathered and how it is used. This interest into data issues and the related privacy was not only motivated by the sheer mass of gathered data. The interest also increased because of several recent incidents where internet companies such as Facebook provided access of their users’ data to third parties or analyzed voices and private talks of people at home (e.g., Alexa). This paper focuses on privacy concerns in a carsharing context. We present an overview of collected user data by carsharing companies and the influence of privacy concerns of carsharing users in Germany.
