Popis: Fig. i. Steel-casting nozzle after casting rimmed steel (a) and semikilled steel (b). The Donetsk Scientific-Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy and the Enakievo Metallurgical Plant have carried out research on Stabilizing the stream during the top pouring of steel into section ingot molds. It was established that the use of nozzles with a modified channel cross section stabilized the stream of metal to a considerable extent and reduced rejects in the first process stage by reason of surface defects (bottom splash and scab) by approximately one-half.
