Temporal vs. Numerical Interpretations of Before/After in Children

Popis: In prior work, we found that 4-6 year old children have a narrow interpretation of the terms before and after in the context of numerical sequences. That is, children will say that 6 comes after 5, but 7 does not come after 5, even though they know both 6 and 7 are bigger than 5. In this project, we are interested in understanding whether children apply a similarly constrained interpretation of the terms before/after in other contexts, namely temporal event sequences.
