Popis: A1C screening can identify some patients with previously unrecognized diabetes and its complications (receiver operating characteristic area under the curve ∼0.80 in our study [1]), which is one objective of “diagnosis.” The ADA criterion (≥6.5%) provides good specificity because it is higher than levels where interindividual variation confounds the relationship between glucose and A1C.
