Popis: Historical references to the charity organization movement of the years 1870-1900 emphasize its relation to the rise of the welfare state and a scientific knowledge base for social work. But charity organizers regarded themselves as religious people working in a religious tradition. A review of their theological assumptions about love and community puts their doctrine and heritage in a different light.
