The higher education industry is delving more and more into the adoption of governance principles, further promoting the role and the place of women across its hierarchical structure. As governance stems from worlds related to equality and empowerment, both national strategies and private actions are undertaken to help reduce the existent discrepancies and to increase the representation level of women in society. The higher education industry is facing noticeable changes, providing increased opportunities for access and advancement for its women members. In this context, affirmative actions are undertaken: quotas are being set and Boards of trustees that include women members are now created across the top universities of the region, in their quest to obtain accreditations and compete on the international level. |
