Explosive phenomena produce a sudden release of energy and generate intense shock waves (blast waves). In this work, to model these phenomena using concepts of gas dynamics, the free software OpenFOAM™, through the rhoCentralFoam solver, is used. The main objective is to study the generation, evolution, and interaction of blast waves with walls. This process generates a reflected shock wave and an increase in pressure on the wall. Also, an analytical scheme to calculate the reflected pressure is presented. To verify the correct behavior of the numerical methodology used for the simulation of the propagation and rebound of blast waves, the numerical results are compared with the classic Sedov solution for cylindrical and spherical explosions, with the theoretical scheme, and with equations presented in the specialized literature. The time of arrival of the shock to the wall from the origin of the explosion and the maximum reflected pressure are compared because these parameters are essential for structural calculation. |
