The accounting profession, like other professional groups, is affected by social events and epidemics because it provides services to people and society. Today's Covid-19 pandemic is also thought to have deeply affected accounting professionals. From this point on, the main objective of this study is to reveal the problems faced by accounting professionals in this process. Within the framework of this purpose, the negative effects of the epidemic on the professionals operating in Yozgat province were determined by using qualitative research method and pandemic-specific problems were tried to be presented by comparing them with the past problems of accountants. It has been determined that the members of the profession are deeply affected by stress, increased workload and devaluation. The members of the profession provide their income entirely from the taxpayers. The negative impact of the epidemic on taxpayers also affected accountants financially. As a result of this research, accountants have been found to believe that this profession can now be done remotely to move to digital platforms. However, it is also the view that the creation and filing of many documents on paper makes it impossible for this profession to do so remotely today. The members of the profession stated that they contributed to the income of the state by taking on important duties especially in the tax-related process. Therefore, they believe that for the future of the profession, accountant fees should be added to taxes or declaration fees and guaranteed by the state. In this way, they think that tax calculations will be made more realistic and the income of the state will increase, since the dependence on the taxpayer will decrease, i.e. there will be no fear of job losses. |
