| Popis: | The concept of communication has evolved with the history of life arriving at the 5G era, where the optical telecommunication network is the main driver to connect 50 billion devices by 2030. In this new paradigm, Fiber Sensing (FS) technology certainly plays a key role as it can be considered as a new net-app in which the information processed has a different content from the “classic” ones. The needs of this technology can be the same as for a 5G network, and the values that the network could possess in terms of disaggregation and the contextual role of the SDN, the AI and Big Data must be considered. In this paper a technological survey of FS solutions and its application in different areas is presented taking into account Telecommunications Operators (TELCOs) infrastructure requirements. Furthermore, it is discussed the challenges arisen by the introduction of these technologies into the already existing networks and probable solutions. |
