The article deals with an analytical construction with a predicate actant, expressed by the verbal stem with the suffix -ӈа / -ӈэ, to which the finite form of the negative auxiliary verb with the meaning «can not be, can not» is added. Brief review of literature describing the Even grammar of various dialects shows contradictory status of this stem, although it is present in all Even dialects and local accents explored. Grammatical features that exclude the presence of the categories of time, case including possessive form, and the impossibility of changing number are used to reject the traditional statement of referring the verbal stem with the suffix -ӈа / -ӈэ to attributive participles. Judging by its semantics, morphological and syntactic features, words with -ӈа / -ӈэ, should be rather classified as adverbial participles that denote impossibility / reluctance to perform an action. |
