Popis: Energy subsidies have existed in developing countries for a long while. Traditionally, subsidies were put in place to enhance access to modern energy services, protect the poor against high and fluctuating energy prices, foster industrial development, smooth consumption levels, and contain inflationary pressures. In spite of these intentions, energy subsidies have not fulfilled their purpose in many ways.
