Popis: It is with great interest that we have read the article by Seshimo et al.1 describing a case of severe anaphylaxis after a Japanese dwarf flying squirrel bite due to transcutaneous mealworm sensitization. The potential allergen causing anaphylaxis may have been contained on the squirrel's teeth or in its saliva. This case points out intriguing aspects regarding allergies to edible insects or substances such as saliva or foods contaminated with insect parts.
