| Popis: | Lignin occurs in the matrix of plant cell walls. It is a complex heterogeneous polymer which in association with cellulose and hemicellulose provides strength and rigidity to plant cells. In supporting the plant cell structure, it gives shape and form to the whole plant. Although lignin is found in the middle lamellae between cells, it is most abundant in the secondary walls of plant cells, laid down after the cells have differentiated and ceased growing. |
