The paper concerns the issue of the accounting books produced in the city of Wroclaw (Breslau) in the late Middle Ages and at the outset of the Early Modern Period. During most of this period, Wroclaw belonged to the Kingdom of Bohemia and, until 1437, was part of the Holy Roman Empire (Maleczynski and Holubowicz, 1960, pp. 552–559). In the years 1469–1490 Wroclaw was subordinated to the Hungarian king, Matthias Corvinus for his lifetime, and then returned to the Kingdom of Bohemia (Golinski, 2001, p. 197; Orzechowski, 2005, pp. 85–86; Kubinyi, 2008, pp. 87, 97, 101–102). |
