Popis:	This discussion reviews cellular mechanisms underlying the development of oxygen toxicity and the antioxidant defenses that are present to counter the toxic effects of oxygen. Clinical manifestations of pulmonary oxygen toxicity in the newborn infant are presented and suggestions are offered for its prevention.
