Popis: | Working independently to promote locally raised livestock and discourage the mass production of meat Factory farming, or industrial agriculture, is the practice of raising animals in confinement or under extremely strict conditions. Essentially, the farm employs factory practices in order to produce the highest output at the lowest cost to the consumer. The animals are kept in crowded and often unsanitary conditions, injected with hormones, and fed an unnatural diet in order to accelerate growth. The operation of factory farms raises many controversial issues including animal welfare, environmental impact, and human health risks. By utilizing the already established Jersey Fresh program, we hope to slow the proliferation of commercially produced livestock and transition to more locally grown, environmentally friendly and health-conscious meats. |
