The DONS code is developed for beam dynamics simulation of cyclotrons, particularly the superconducting compact ones. While few codes with full functionality are dedicated for this industry, the code DONS can be applied to facilitating the physical design and optimization of nearly all the commonly used critical electromagnetic components equipped in cyclotrons. Parallel computing and fast algorithms integrated in a user-friendly interface of the code make it efficient and convenient to perform iterations of the physical design. The accuracy of the code is benchmarked with a widely used code SNOP. At present the code DONS is employed in beam dynamics simulation of the SC200 superconducting compact cyclotron. |
