Popis: This paper analyzes the impact of linguistic distance on the performance and expatriate staffing levels of foreign subsidiaries. The paper theorizes that prevalence of English speakers in a nation will improve the odds of profitability and decrease the relative number of expatriates. Results from panel regression and ordinal logistic regression did not support either hypothesis. The paper concludes with explanations for this result.
