Generally fine art artists produce an artwork that is intended to disclose self-expression and communicate an idea that comes from experience and a desire to share with the community. The idea initiated through the empirical research processes to undergo a series of action in order to change it components, subjects, form, and content so that the artwork can give the look of satisfaction and pleasure visually. This paper discusses the visual artwork by the researcher that is inspired from her culture. Transformation of applied art such as craft into printmaking formed a studio-based study experimented with new media which are different from conventional method. The advantages of alternative printmaking media are: more creative and innovative in the processed of materials and technique, have expected benefit in expressing awareness of Malay culture, and have the aesthetics of new forms in Malaysian contemporary printmaking. The result in terms of artwork also could contribute knowledge to the society about new development of printmaking in Malaysia. |
