We first describe the macrolevel relationships between population growth (based on decadal census data) and land-cover and land-use change (data derived primarily from Landsat multispectral satellite data) in Ghana. We then focus on the southern part of the country to analyze the interaction of demographic and health changes with shifts occurring in land cover and land use, focusing especially on the greater metropolitan areas of Accra and Kumasi, using a set of geospatial methods including spatial regression models. |
