Popis: A 59-year-old man had a malignant tumor in the posterior mediastinum which grew very rapidly and invaded the visceral pleura and upper lobe of the right lung. In addition, a metastatic tumor was present in the lower right lobe (S6).The histological results of the tumor's investigation were mixed, so we were not able to make a definitive diagnosis. There were spindle-shaped and epithelioid cells. Secretory substances stained by Alcian blue were seen in some parts of the tumor. The tumor cells were stained with the antibodies keratin, vimentin, CEA and EMA. On the basis of these histological findings, this tumor was diagnosed as a rare malignant mixed tumor in the posterior mediastinum.
