FUNCTIONALISM AND THE THEORY OF OPPOSITION AS THE MAIN PRINCIPLES OF STUDYING THE MEANS OF IMPLEMENTING CONTRAST IN THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE ARTISTIC DISCOURSE

Popis:	The article is devoted to the problem of functionalism and the theory of opposition as the main principles of studying the means of implementing the contrast in the English-language artistic discourse. Functionalism as a linguistic direction is investigated and its main characteristics are analyzed. It has been found out that the contrast can be used to describe the whole terminology of the “body» of the language in its paradigmatic and syntagmatic aspects. On the material of the works of domestic and foreign linguists it is proved that the contrast is realized in the text space with the help of a number of interacting opposition.
