Popis:	Library catalogs function as guides to the literature by providing detailed subject indexing and categorization of documents by traditional bibliographic forms. Ways are suggested in which intellectual access to information through the catalog may be improved by focusing on other formal and purposive aspects of published documents. The concept of intellectual level is considered as one of these aspects, and ways are suggested in which catalogs might be expanded to use additional indexing of this sort in an automated environment to guide users to pertinent as well as relevant information.
