IR Spectroscopy to Determine the Structural Group Composition of Base Oils

Popis: The physicochemical properties (viscosity viscosity index, density, sulfur content, pour point) of base oils (100 NS, 250 NS, VHVI-4, VHVI-6, PAO-4) were determined. The structural group composition of oils was studied by IR spectroscopy on an «Infraspec FMS 2202» Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. IR spectra processed in the program ASpec. In the spectral range of 600–1800 cm−1, characteristic groups were identified according to the coefficients of paraffin, aromaticity, branching with respect to the -CH2 and -CH3 groups. A correlation between the data of IR-spectroscopy, structural group composition and physicochemical properties of base oils was revealed.
